I got a job!
Over Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend, I had the opportunity to sign up for the Dumbo Double Dare. This is a new runDisney event, taking place over Labor day weekend, this year, at Disneyland. I can't run a half marathon, then a full marathon like the Goofy Challenge at Disneyworld, but I can run a 10k, followed by a half marathon, which makes up the Dumbo Double Dare. However, seeing the price tag for this event, $280, I thought, "I need a job". So, one night we were at DQ and a sign was out for a cake decorating position. I thought, "I can do that". After inquiring with the manager and applying, I now have that job. I work a few hours a week. My plan is to put the money into a separate account and stock pile it. Something like a child wanting a bike, so they get a paper route. I want to pay for the trip myself. All the races are sold out for Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend in 2013, but my plan is to be there in 2014. I hope.

First NLIC
Hey guys... Well today I got some disappointing news. I got into work this morning and checked my email. I had an email from Disney that I was NLIC for one of my PIs. It was not a huge shock since it was the one I was least qualified for, but it still stunk. Also interesting is that the dashboard seems to be down today. No one is able to log in. Maybe this means they are making some progress on the applications?? All I know is that I'm glad I got a rejection email and I didn't have to find out via checking my dashboard. I think that'd be more shocking.
Bright side: Still in the running for my other 3 PIs. :)

Disney Professional Internship - The Beginning!
Hey there! This is Daughter D! So a little about me, I am a recent college grad and I am applying for a few Fall 2013 Disney Professional Interships (PIs). The internet is really lacking on resources concerning Disney PIs and I figured I'd blog a bit about my process thus far. I have applied for a few PIs; they are mostly in Agriculture Science and Animal Programs(AP) (I have found even less info about science related PIs so maybe my posts will help someone out there!).
My process began with my applications on DisneyCareers.com. It is fairly quick to apply to the positions. You upload a resume and fill out some general information about you, like your education and work history. I submitted my applications mid-February. Then I received direct emails from the Ag. Sci. and AP people requesting more info. The AP email was freaky because it said I must submit all my additional material within 24hrs! Luckily I had almost all of it ready to go since the job description listed what else you'd need to submit to be considered.
Since doing this, my progress on my Disney Dashboard (here's a great explanation of the dashboard) has moved from "Submission" to "In Progress" for most of my applications. This is apparently a really good thing. It means you made it past the initial screening and you are not "No Longer In Consideration" (NLIC is heartbreaking!). I have heard from previous applicants that as far as they knew, if you went In Progress for a position you would eventually move to "Interview Stage". Hopefully that is true.
Now while other applicants for Management Internships and perhaps more business related internships are getting screening phone interviews and 2nd phone interviews already, I believe the science groups are just hanging out. For now. Applications close March 8th. And I think after that, they may begin to schedule phone interviews. But I have no idea! I can only hope!
